About GPS Coordinate Converter

Paste a coordinate in decimal degrees, degrees-decimal-minutes, or degrees-minutes-seconds and this tool auto-detects the format, then converts it to all three at once plus UTM and MGRS. A live map pins the location so you can immediately confirm you typed the right point instead of trusting a number you can't picture.

It is built for mariners, surveyors, search-and-rescue teams, and anyone juggling chart plotters, GPS units, and grid references that report position differently. Because everything runs in your browser, your coordinates never touch a server, there is no sign-up, and the converter is completely free to use.

How to use

  1. Paste or type a coordinate in DD, DDM, or DMS format.
  2. Let the tool auto-detect the input format, or pick it manually.
  3. Read the converted DD, DDM, DMS, UTM, and MGRS values side by side.
  4. Check the live map pin to confirm the location is correct.
  5. Copy the format you need for your chart plotter, GPS, or report.

Frequently asked questions

Are my coordinates uploaded anywhere?+

No. Every conversion and the map lookup run entirely in your browser, so the positions you enter never leave your device and nothing is stored on a server.

Which formats can it read and produce?+

It accepts decimal degrees (DD), degrees-decimal-minutes (DDM), and degrees-minutes-seconds (DMS), and outputs all three plus UTM and MGRS grid references.

Do I have to tell it which format I pasted?+

Usually not. The converter inspects your input and detects whether it is DD, DDM, or DMS automatically, though you can override the detection if needed.

What is the difference between UTM and MGRS?+

UTM gives a zone plus easting and northing in meters, while MGRS adds a 100,000-meter grid square letter pair and a compact alphanumeric reference. Both describe the same point in different notation.

Can I use it offline?+

The coordinate math runs locally, so conversions work without a connection, but the live map tiles need internet access to display the pin.
